Plover and Ability Systems to develop port self-driving safety tests

Plover and Ability Systems signed an agreement to develop a testing system for autonomous vehicles used at ports.

Plover works on AI testing for mobility, while Ability Systems develops port logistics automation.

Ports are moving toward driverless yard tractors and automated guided vehicles, which carry containers and other loads.

The companies plan to combine AI tests with software-based and hardware-based checks before vehicles are used in real operations.

Tests will use virtual sensor data and port operating data, then connect selected driving situations to real vehicle control units for further checks.

The goal is to identify safety problems before deployment and assess the effect of software changes.

The companies said they plan to expand cooperation to system design, testing, practical trials, and work on standards and certification.
