Vox places Ceuta leader Juan Sergio Redondo third on Madrid election list

Vox places Ceuta leader Juan Sergio Redondo third on Madrid election list

Vox leader Santiago Abascal will head the party’s Madrid list for Spain’s November 29 election.

Montserrat Lluis will be second and Juan Sergio Redondo third, according to the announced list.

Lluis is Vox’s deputy secretary general and helped negotiate the party’s regional governing agreements with the People’s Party.

Redondo leads Vox in Ceuta, a Spanish autonomous city on the North African coast, and has been a party deputy in its assembly since 2019.

Vox’s choice gives Ceuta a prominent place in the campaign as the city faces a migration crisis after a large arrival of migrants in late July.

Redondo also leads the DENAES foundation, which was promoted and chaired by Abascal and helped give rise to Vox.

The candidates are set to campaign ahead of the November 29 vote, but the sources do not say what the result will be.
