Kraken beat Flyers in shootout as Philadelphia opens season 0-5-3

Seattle beat Philadelphia 3-2 in a shootout on Tuesday at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Bobby McMann scored the deciding goal in the fifth round, after both teams had scored twice in regulation.

The Kraken had led 2-0, but the Flyers tied it with two third-period goals in a span of 1 minute and 13 seconds.

Philadelphia has now lost its first eight games of the season, with a record of 0-5-3.

It is the longest season-opening losing streak by an NHL team since San Jose began the 2024-25 season 0-7-2.

Seattle has won its first three road games on a five-game trip and is 5-2-0 this season.

The Flyers will need to turn their improved third-period play into wins, while the Kraken continue their road trip.
