Ferrari’s first sailing boat is being built for ocean speed records
Ferrari is building its first sailing boat, called Hypersail, at a yard between Pisa and Livorno in Italy.
The 100-foot boat is designed to rise above the water on foils and pursue ocean speed records.
Its design combines Ferrari engineering with naval architecture by French designer Guillaume Verdier, and the boat is expected to carry 20 patents.
Solar panels and small wind turbines are planned to provide power on board.
The crew will live in a cramped cockpit, with hammocks and four-hour rest turns, while sailing in demanding conditions.
Hypersail is due to be launched in Livorno in late March 2027; testing is planned before then, and the team aims to set records.
