Tim McGraw, Paul Overstreet and the Stanley Brothers enter Hall of Fame

Tim McGraw, Paul Overstreet and the Stanley Brothers were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Nashville on Oct.

18.

McGraw was honored as a Modern Era Artist, Overstreet as a songwriter, and Ralph and Carter Stanley as Veterans Era Artists.

The ceremony recognized three different contributions to country music: McGraw’s performing career, Overstreet’s songwriting and the Stanley Brothers’ influence on bluegrass.

McGraw became emotional as he spoke about his upbringing, his career and his family, including wife Faith Hill.

The Stanley Brothers helped shape bluegrass, while Overstreet co-wrote country hits including “Forever and Ever, Amen” and “When You Say Nothing at All.”

The ceremony also featured performances by country and bluegrass musicians honoring the inductees.

Bronze plaques for the inductees will hang permanently in the museum’s rotunda.
