Houthi officials say airstrikes near Sanaa killed at least 25
Airstrikes hit homes in al-Shariya, a village about 15 kilometres northeast of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, on Saturday.
Houthi officials say at least 25 people were killed and 30 wounded, mostly women and children.
A Houthi health ministry spokesman accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the strikes, but the claim has not been independently verified, and Saudi Arabia had not responded to a request for comment.
The strikes come as Yemen’s civil war has flared up again after a truce reached in 2022 collapsed over the summer.
The Houthis control Sanaa and much of northern and western Yemen, while their Saudi-backed opponents are based in the south and east.
Renewed fighting is deepening fears of another humanitarian crisis in a war that has killed at least 150,000 people, according to the United Nations, with further deaths from hunger and disease.
Fighting has also intensified elsewhere, including around the southern city of Taiz, where residents face shortages of food and drinking water.
