589 Students and Teachers Displaced by Tibet Earthquake Resume Classes in Lhasa

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Baqing County in Tibet, leaving two local primary schools badly affected.

The first group, 589 fifth- and sixth-grade students and teachers, arrived at Lhasa Nagqu Middle School on the evening of November 1.

They will study and live at the school while their own schools cannot host classes.

A total of 1,495 students and 89 teachers from the two schools are expected to arrive in later groups.

The host school prepared meals, dorm rooms and teaching facilities for them.

The move is intended to keep affected students learning and living safely after the earthquake.

The remaining students and teachers are due to arrive, and classes will continue at the Lhasa school.
