Two killed in separate heavy-vehicle crashes in Balanagar and Miyapur

Two men were killed in separate heavy-vehicle crashes in Balanagar and Miyapur, areas of Hyderabad, on October 8.

In Balanagar, a goods carrier carrying iron pipes overturned onto Prakash Pawar, a 56-year-old businessman riding a scooter near the flyover.

Police said the carrier was illegally overloaded and the pipes were stacked unevenly, causing it to lose balance.

In Miyapur, a tipper lorry collided with Vishnu Bandari’s motorcycle as he approached a U-turn; the 29-year-old later died in hospital.

Police registered cases against both drivers, including one under a law concerning culpable homicide and one concerning death by negligence.

The Balanagar police apprehended that driver and seized the vehicle; the sources give no further update on either case.
