Capitalize for Kids conference expected to raise more than $3-million

Jeffrey Gallant and Kyle MacDonald founded Capitalize for Kids, a Toronto charity focused on youth mental health.

They started it after seeing how depression and suicide affected their families and communities.

The charity works with youth mental-health agencies, offering pro bono services and innovative funding.

Its annual investors conference brings together people from pension funds, hedge funds and other investment firms, who pay to attend and discuss investment ideas.

Conference proceeds fund the charity’s work, which aims to help agencies address shared problems and reach more young people.

The charity now works with close to 80 organizations, including community-based mental-health programs.

This year’s conference is expected to raise more than $3-million when it takes place on Nov.
