Tito Karnavian inspects flood-damaged river banks in Pidie Jaya
Interior Minister Tito Karnavian inspected flood-damaged river banks in Pidie Jaya, Aceh, as head of Indonesia’s post-disaster recovery task force.
He visited embankments on the Krueng Meureudu and Alue Keutapang rivers, where recent floods have affected nearby homes.
Repeated flooding is slowing recovery after earlier disasters, damaging repaired roads and bridges and leaving some cleaned settlements muddy again.
The task force says 137 rivers in three provinces have sediment buildup following the November 2025 disaster.
Tito said authorities need to build or strengthen embankments and dredge rivers, with dredging potentially involving private partners as well as public agencies and the military.
The government provided pumps, supplies and cash aid, including Rp 200 million each for Dayah Usen and Alue Keutapang villages; further work is intended to reduce the risk of flooding recurring.

Dredging will not only be left to Public Works and the military. It will also, among other ways, be carried out through cooperation with third parties.
