Vichy Catalan to invest €14 million in Caldes de Malavella spa hotel

Vichy Catalan plans to spend about €14 million renovating its spa hotel in Caldes de Malavella, Girona, Spain.

The complex dates to 1898 and is the flagship property of the group’s 1881 Hotels division.

The hotel will close during construction and is due to reopen in spring 2028.

The work is part of the company’s effort to grow its hotel business while keeping mineral water and juice as its main business.

This year, the group added a five-star hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to its chain.

It aims to add existing four-star hotels in several Spanish cities over the next 10 to 15 years, through rental or management agreements.

Hotels are forecast to bring in more than €19 million in 2026, about 8% of the group’s expected revenue.
