5 Michigan beat No.

2 UConn 77-66 in women's college basketball in Ann Arbor on Thursday.

The win was the highest-ranked victory in Michigan's history, while UConn's run of 39 straight regular-season wins ended.

Michigan's Te'Yala Delfosse scored 22 points, and Olivia Olson added 19 as four Wolverines reached double figures.

UConn's Jovana Popovic led all scorers with 25 points, but Sarah Strong fouled out after scoring 13.

Coach Geno Auriemma criticized UConn's players for looking to Strong and Popovic to rescue the team instead of stepping up themselves.

The loss came in just UConn's second game of the season, and the Huskies now face a difficult schedule with many ranked opponents.

UConn next hosts No.

10 Iowa on Sunday, while its upcoming schedule also includes top-ranked South Carolina.

It's not about the loss. It's just disappointing to see how some of our players reacted when it was time to step up and make plays
