EDF to change off-peak electricity hours for some customers
From 4 November 2026 to 30 November 2027, EDF will change off-peak hours for some customers under a reform led by grid operator Enedis.
About 11 million customers are affected, though some may already have suitable hours.
The off-peak periods offer a lower electricity price, and customers will still get eight off-peak hours each day.
From April to October, some of those hours may fall between 11 a.m.
and 5 p.m., when solar power can be plentiful.
In winter, hours may be grouped mainly at night, with at least five consecutive night hours guaranteed.
The seasonal changes are intended to better match electricity use with solar generation and demand on the grid.
EDF says it will notify affected customers at least a month before their hours change, and they should check their schedules and adjust appliance timers if needed to avoid higher bills.
