Police renew search for missing man after Weimar explosions

Police in Weimar have restarted the search for a missing 61-year-old man about a month after explosions destroyed his home.

The blasts happened in Lützendorf, in the north of the German city, and also destroyed a nearby outbuilding.

Investigators are searching the site with dogs and plan to comb it closely through Wednesday.

The property had already been searched several times, but the man has not been found.

Police suspect gas cylinders were used deliberately to cause the explosions; several cylinders were found under the rubble.

The man had worked as an emergency doctor in Bad Berka before he went missing.

The renewed search aims to find the missing resident, but the police have not said what they expect to find.
