Forest culture festival planned at Hoengseong forest center

The National Hoengseong Soopchewon will hold a forest festival on Oct.

24 in Hoengseong, South Korea.

It will run from 1 p.m.

to 9 p.m.

and is open to local residents, overnight guests and other visitors.

The program combines forest activities and local culture, including magic, street performances, walking, relaxation and craft workshops.

Visitors can also browse a market selling local food and distinctive goods, then watch an outdoor film in the evening.

Families will receive free Korean fir plants, part of a project that encourages care for this native species.

The festival aims to share the restorative value of forests and highlight the importance of protecting nature; the center says it plans to expand forest services that also support local communities.
