‘Wild Horse Nine’ follows CIA agents on Easter Island in 1973
Wild Horse Nine stars John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell as CIA agents Chris and Lee.
In the film, the longtime partners travel from Santiago, Chile, to Easter Island in 1973.
Their trip takes place shortly before a military coup is set to change Chile’s government.
Chris, who has cancer, is becoming less careful about revealing that the men work for the CIA.
Their boss asks Lee to find out what Chris plans to include in a memoir, including any details about the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The film uses the agents’ troubled friendship and CIA past to mix dark comedy with drama and a spy-thriller plot.
The JFK connection is presented as a conspiracy theory within the story, not as established fact.

What people are saying
I went to Rapa Nui fifteen years ago, hoping to make it, in a way, the character of one of my films.
Its involvement in the JFK case is obviously a rumor, but I have always been fascinated by this conspiracy, so I thought it would be an interesting element to add to this story.
