Steam Reaches Record 43.5 Million Concurrent Users

Steam, the online game service run by Valve, set a new record with 43,505,724 users logged in at the same time.

The record was reached in October, after Steam also set new highs in January and March.

Being logged in does not mean someone is playing a game, and about 14.5 million users were in a game when the record was set.

That was also a record for people playing at once.

The increase appears to reflect a gradual rise in users, with games including Gears of War: E-Day and the free-to-play MMO Aion 2 among those drawing players.

Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG also regularly attract large audiences.

The figures show Steam's growing reach, but they are not directly comparable with Roblox's daily users or Fortnite's peak players.
