741 South Korean service academy cadets begin joint naval training

A joint training group left Jinhae Naval Base on Nov.

3 to begin a sea-training program.

It carries 741 second-year cadets from South Korea’s army, navy, air force and armed forces nursing academies.

The program is designed to build understanding of the Navy and joint operations, and this is its ninth run since it began in 2018.

Cadets will observe tactical manoeuvres, helicopter landings and take-offs, and supply operations at sea.

They will also take part in naval duties and damage-control exercises aboard the ships.

The group plans to stop in Guam and Jeju, where cadets are scheduled to visit military commands, bases and units.

The training gives future officers from different services a chance to learn about naval operations and work across service lines.
