Israel Folau retires from professional sport after career across three codes
Israel Folau has retired from professional sport after more than two decades at the top level.
The 37-year-old Australian played rugby league, Australian rules and rugby union, representing teams including the Melbourne Storm, Brisbane Broncos, GWS Giants and Wallabies.
His career included 91 NRL games, 73 Wallabies Tests and 13 games for the Giants.
In 2019, Rugby Australia ended his contract after social media posts condemning homosexuality and other behaviour on religious grounds breached its code of conduct.
That dismissal made his career especially controversial, alongside his achievements on the field.
Folau said he is not seeking another professional playing opportunity, but may play local rugby league and a Gold Coast nines event.
