Muslim World League condemns missile targeting of Mecca and Medina

The Muslim World League condemned the targeting of Mecca and Medina by two ballistic missiles it attributed to the Houthi group.

The League said the missiles were intercepted, and that fragments fell in parts of Mecca, Jeddah, Taif and Rabigh.

Mecca and Medina are Islam’s two holy cities, and the League said the attack threatened the sanctity of religious sites.

It described the incident as part of continued Houthi aggression against Saudi Arabia.

The League’s secretary-general, Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, said the attacks offended Muslims and violated religious and humanitarian values.

The League reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supported measures to deter attacks and protect holy sites and people.
