Peñarol candidate vows to pursue Flamengo's Arrascaeta
Peñarol presidential candidate Pablo Schiavi wants to bring Uruguayan star Giorgian de Arrascaeta back to the club.
Arrascaeta currently plays for Flamengo in Brazil and is also part of Uruguay's national team.
Schiavi says he will do everything he can to persuade Arrascaeta to join Peñarol, but called the move very difficult.
He says he would speak with the player's representative, Daniel Fonseca, rather than put pressure on the player.
Schiavi also named Flamengo midfielder Nico de la Cruz and Boca Juniors striker Miguel Merentiel as targets.
He said he believes De la Cruz could join Peñarol and described Merentiel as another appealing option.
The proposals are campaign promises, not confirmed transfers, and Peñarol's presidential election is scheduled for early December.
