Traffic halted on part of Russia’s M-5 highway in Samara region

Authorities halted all traffic on part of the M-5 highway in Russia’s Samara region on November 2 because of a drone threat.

The closure covers kilometres 30 to 59 on the road leading toward Orenburg, a section of the federal highway linking Moscow and other cities with the Urals.

The regional transport ministry said the restriction applies to every type of vehicle.

Drivers can use a detour along regional roads through Dobry Umet, R.-Vladimirovka, P.-Mikhailovka and Dmitrievka.

The governor said an attack on the region had been repelled, and the drone-threat alert was lifted before the restriction was reported.

No reopening time was given, so drivers were advised to plan for an alternative route.
