Jasudavicius beats Blanchfield as Malott knocks out Buckley

Jasmine Jasudavicius defeated Erin Blanchfield by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night in Edmonton, Alberta, on Saturday.

The Canadian flyweight used five takedowns and nearly eight minutes of control to win all three judges’ scorecards, despite being outlanded in significant strikes.

The upset improved Jasudavicius’s record to 16-4 and strengthened her position among the leading contenders in the women’s 125-pound division.

Third-ranked Blanchfield lost after two straight wins, while Jasudavicius, ranked eighth, earned her second consecutive victory.

The division has a new champion, Natalia Silva, while former champion Valentina Shevchenko is recovering from injury; Jasudavicius said she wants another fight with Silva, who beat her in 2022.

Mike Malott knocked out Joaquin Buckley with a knee in the second round of the main event, giving Buckley his third straight loss.

The card recorded 12 finishes, tying a UFC record; the sources do not say what either winner will fight next.
