Ulsan adjusts traffic systems at 10 sites after public suggestions
Ulsan police changed traffic systems at 10 locations after considering ideas from residents.
On a 2.34-kilometre stretch of Jongga-ro, eight traffic signals were retimed to match traffic flows.
Morning travel time fell by 57%, from 11 minutes 56 seconds to 5 minutes 8 seconds; evening travel in the opposite direction fell by 38.9%.
At another junction, signal changes cleared a queue of left-turning vehicles that had stretched about 400 metres.
Police also changed signals and road markings to reduce crash risks at a junction where the road layout could lead drivers to go straight when they needed to turn left.
Residents can continue submitting suggestions through the end of the year, after the police began accepting them on September 21.
