Aargau launches six-month pilot for police reports by video call

Aargau residents can now speak with a police officer by video call to report incidents, instead of going to a police station.

The service began on 1 October and is planned as a six-month pilot.

It is for people who live in Aargau and want to report an incident that happened in the canton.

People can also use it to report lost identity documents or ask for police advice.

It cannot be used for emergencies or cases that need officers at the scene, such as a burglary.

Appointments are available on weekdays until 9 p.m.

and on weekends from 9 a.m.

to 4 p.m.

Similar services in Zurich and Basel-Stadt have been well used, and Aargau police say the pilot will help them assess how to improve access to their services.
