Iraqi defender Saad Natiq breaks leg during league match

Iraqi defender Saad Natiq broke his leg during a league match between his team, Al-Minaa, and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.

The injury happened on Thursday in Baghdad, during the 12th round of the Iraqi Stars League.

Natiq said the injury occurred because of the poor condition of the pitch at International City Stadium.

Initial medical tests found a fracture, and one report said he is expected to be out for at least a month.

He called on officials and the international community to address unsafe pitches, saying they put players at risk.

Natiq faces a period of recovery and rehabilitation, while the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
