Lion City Sailors beat Adelaide United 2-0 in Asian Champions League Two

Singapore’s Lion City Sailors beat Adelaide United 2-0 at Coopers Stadium in Adelaide in the Asian Champions League Two group stage.

The win ended Adelaide’s perfect start to the campaign and moved the Sailors above them to the top of Group F. The teams were level at half-time, although the visitors had created several dangerous chances.

Adelaide had more possession, but the Sailors made more chances and tested the goal more often.

Hugo Gomes scored from a corner in the 80th minute to put the visitors ahead.

Lennart Thy added a second in stoppage time, after Adelaide nearly equalised and the Sailors broke forward.

The result gives the Singapore champions an important advantage in the Group F race.
