Mexico records 22 earthquakes, strongest measuring 4.3

Mexico's morning seismic bulletin recorded 22 earthquakes on October 26 between 00:46 and 04:40.

The strongest measured magnitude 4.3 near Zumpango del Río, Guerrero, at a depth of 50.9 kilometres.

Most of the recorded quakes measured between 3.0 and 3.7, while two others measured 4.2 near the coasts of Oaxaca and Chiapas.

Oaxaca, Chiapas and Guerrero each had seven recorded earthquakes, the most of any states in the bulletin.

Mexico has frequent seismic activity because five tectonic plates meet beneath the country, and their movement releases energy that makes the ground shake.

The bulletin gave no information about injuries, damage or whether people felt the quakes, and it did not say what would happen next.
