Dushyant Kumar Gautam sworn in as Sikkim governor as Congress vows protest

Dushyant Kumar Gautam was sworn in as Sikkim’s 19th governor on Monday in Gangtok.

He succeeded Om Prakash Mathur, with Sikkim High Court Chief Justice A Muhamed Mustaque administering the oath.

Congress criticised the BJP for going ahead with Gautam’s appointment, citing a murder case linked to his name.

The case concerns the 2022 murder of a young woman in Uttarakhand, which Congress says has not been resolved with justice.

Congress says it will hold marches across Uttarakhand and gherao the state assembly on October 27.

The party says its protests over the appointment will intensify.
