Police search homes in four states over alleged Zwickau group

Police searched homes in four German states on November 3 as part of an investigation into a suspected criminal group.

The case involves 12 people suspected of forming a group in Zwickau, in the state of Saxony.

Investigators suspect the group sought to pursue its aims through crimes including assault and property damage.

MDR reported that suspects were believed to have attacked several people in a Zwickau park in 2024, injuring three.

Some of the suspects are subject to arrest warrants, according to Saxony's State Criminal Police Office.

The searches focused on Zwickau and also covered locations including Dresden, Leipzig, Saalfeld, Bremen and Hamburg.

The investigation is ongoing, with Saxony police unit Soko LinX handling cases involving suspected left-wing extremist crimes.
