More than 30,000 attend Juan Gabriel tribute in Monterrey

More than 30,000 people attended a free Juan Gabriel tribute in Monterrey, Mexico, on October 22.

The concert opened the 19th Santa Lucía International Festival and marked a decade since the singer-songwriter’s death.

Aída Cuevas, Majo Aguilar and Paco de María led the performances, backed by an orchestra, mariachi, choir and musicians who had toured with Juan Gabriel.

The performers sang a selection of 19 songs, including “Amor eterno,” in a program kept secret until the show began.

The tribute brought together musicians connected to Juan Gabriel’s work, including Cuevas, who had known and worked with him since 1983.

The festival plans more than 50 cultural activities this year.
