Oil companies had more active oil-drilling rigs in the U.S. this week.

The oil rig count reached 462, while the total for oil and gas rigs was 603.

More rigs can signal that companies are preparing to drill more wells.

U.S. crude oil production also rose slightly in the latest weekly data.
