Putin says Russia-Egypt energy cooperation is expanding

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia and Egypt are expanding cooperation in several areas, including energy.

He spoke at a summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.

Putin highlighted a joint nuclear power plant project as one of the two countries’ largest projects.

He said it is financed mainly through multi-billion-dollar loans from the Russian state.

Putin described the project as progressing successfully with the support of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

He said he hopes el-Sisi will visit Moscow soon for the Russia-Africa forum.
