Real Madrid host RB Leipzig in Champions League league phase

Real Madrid host RB Leipzig in the Champions League at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid.

The match is the teams’ third game in the competition’s 2026-27 league phase, where all teams are ranked in one table.

Madrid have won their first two matches and sit eighth with six points, while Leipzig have three points from a loss and a win.

Madrid are seeking a third straight Champions League win to strengthen their position for reaching the knockout stage.

Leipzig arrive after losing 6-1 to Bayern Munich, while Madrid beat Sevilla 4-1 and have won their last three matches in all competitions.

Madrid will be without Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy and Raúl Asensio, while coach José Mourinho confirmed Vinícius Júnior will start.

The match comes before Madrid’s league game against Barcelona next Sunday, and both teams will be looking to improve their standing in the league phase.
