Rigo pasta plant faces closure as Electrolux workers seek fewer cuts

Clemens Products plans to close Pastificio Rigo in Pieve del Grappa, near Treviso, in January 2027.

The Australian owner’s plan puts the jobs of the pasta plant’s 35 workers at risk after 98 years of production.

The unions say the plant is profitable, and want regional officials to bring the company to crisis talks before it closes.

Electrolux workers in Susegana are seeking fewer job cuts as part of talks over the company’s plans for its Italian operations.

The latest proposal would cut 371 jobs at the Treviso-area factory, where workers also want to keep the group’s refrigerator design centre and reject faster production targets.

The two disputes reflect plans to reduce activity in Italy, though they involve different companies and industries.

Electrolux talks are scheduled for October 28 and November 2, with a possible extra meeting on November 3; workers are seeking changes to the company’s plan.
