Iran’s president blames US for interim peace deal failure and urges new talks

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian blamed the United States for the collapse of talks on an interim deal to end the war involving Iran, the US and Israel.

He said both sides should try again and reach an agreement.

The fighting began on February 28, and Pezeshkian has previously said the US must end its threats and lift sanctions before negotiations can take place.

The prospect of renewed strikes has raised tensions: US President Donald Trump has warned he may order another operation, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he remains committed to overthrowing Iran’s government.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned that even limited strikes would draw a much larger response.

Iran’s government has also said the country seeks peace but will defend itself against aggression.

The next step remains uncertain: Pezeshkian is calling for a new attempt at an agreement, while military action could resume, and elections are approaching in Israel and the United States.
