Mount Ridley process recovers 96% of vanadium from titanomagnetite

Mount Ridley Mines tested its Selectro process on a third-party sample of titanomagnetite, a mineral that contains vanadium, titanium and iron.

The two-stage test recovered 95.5% of the sample’s vanadium, 48.6% of its titanium and 77.6% of its iron.

The company says Selectro did this without the high-temperature roasting commonly used to extract vanadium from titanomagnetite.

Conventional processing often focuses on vanadium, while titanium and iron largely remain in the residue.

Recovering several metals could make the material more valuable and may reduce processing costs and complexity, though the company has not established that outcome for a project.

This was the third distinct feed type tested successfully with Selectro, and Mount Ridley says it plans to pursue licensing the process to other project owners.
