Colapinto and Gasly try baseball before the Mexican Grand Prix

Alpine drivers Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly tried baseball during a visit to the Diablos Rojos in Mexico City.

The visit came before the Mexican Grand Prix, where Colapinto says he feels close to home because of the support he receives from Mexican fans.

He also wore a shirt split between the Argentina and Mexico football teams.

Colapinto said Argentine fans had supported Mexican driver Sergio Pérez when Argentina had no driver in Formula 1.

Colapinto will miss the first practice session because Alpine is giving its car to Italian driver Gabriele Minì for a required session for debut drivers.

He is due back for second practice and will prepare for Saturday's qualifying and Sunday's race.

It is one of the races of the year that I look forward to most. I feel close to home, I feel comfortable and I receive a lot of love. When I come here, it is practically like being in Argentina.

In Argentina we were all Checo fans; he was like our Argentine in Formula 1, who wasn’t Argentine.
