Sony raises annual profit and PlayStation business forecasts after strong quarter

Sony raised its forecast for annual net profit to 1.33 trillion yen for the year ending in March 2027, up from 1.21 trillion yen.

The Japanese company said stronger results in gaming, network services and films helped drive the change.

Its PlayStation business had a strong quarter, with higher sales from online services and games made by Sony.

Marvel’s Wolverine sold 2.4 million units after launching on September 15.

PlayStation 5 sales fell to 2.6 million consoles in the quarter, but lifetime sales reached 93.7 million.

Sony also raised its full-year forecast for its games business to 4.8 trillion yen in sales and 700 billion yen in operating income, and said it plans to keep investing in games and services while preparing for its next-generation platform.
