Gibran Supporters File Pretrial Challenge in Denny Indrayana Case

Gibran Rakabuming's supporters filed a pretrial challenge over a case involving Denny Indrayana at the South Jakarta District Court.

The case concerns a suspected corruption scheme involving an online passport service called Payment Gateway at Indonesia's Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

Indrayana was named a suspect in 2015, and his lawyer at the time denied that the project caused state losses, saying a 5,000-rupiah transaction fee had a legal basis.

Indrayana says he expected the case to be raised again after he pressed for action over questions about Gibran's educational certificate.

He describes the challenge as part of a backlash against critical voices, but that is his view.

He has formed a team called Insight, which includes former anti-corruption commission head Abraham Samad and legal experts.

Indrayana says he is ready to face the challenge, and no court decision on it is reported.
