American Airlines Flight Attendant Retires After More Than 63 Years
Carol Fair completed her final flight as an American Airlines flight attendant after more than 63 years in the job.
Her flight from London Heathrow landed at her home base, Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
She began her career at Piedmont Airlines after American Airlines initially turned down her application in 1963.
Piedmont later became part of US Airways, which merged with American Airlines in 2013.
Her colleagues marked her retirement with a celebration, including a cake and a water-cannon salute at the airport.
Her long career stands out in a country with no upper age limit for flight attendants, though crew members must pass yearly safety training.
Fair has now retired from active flying, and her colleagues will take over the flights and seniority she leaves behind.
