Ferrara opens redesigned northwest entrance after €4.85 million upgrade

The city of Ferrara has completed a major upgrade to its northwest entrance in northern Italy.

The €4.85 million project covered roads and public spaces between via Modena, viale Po, via Marconi and via del Lavoro.

Italy’s PNRR funded the work as part of an urban regeneration programme.

The redesigned area includes two roundabouts and completed walking and cycling routes.

A disused railway strip on via Marconi is now a cycle and walking path beside a tree-lined green strip.

Better lighting and safer crossings are intended to make daily journeys easier, while surfaces and plants were chosen to support drainage and local conditions.

The completed project aims to reconnect the northwest area with the city centre and improve its public spaces.

The northwest entrance, made possible thanks to the funds the municipality secured and obtained from the PNRR, has become a new calling card for Ferrara, but above all a more liveable place for those who live there and pass through every day.
