Arsenal plans to cut up to 60 jobs across off-field departments
Arsenal plans to cut up to 60 jobs across several departments, chief executive Richard Garlick told staff this week.
The cuts could affect up to 7% of the club’s 871 permanent staff, but men’s and women’s coaching and performance staff are excluded, along with staff in the Arsenal Foundation, community and security teams.
Manager Mikel Arteta said the club explained that the changes were meant to improve how it works and help it keep investing.
The club says the cuts are intended to support future success, though Arteta said he was not the right person to answer questions about the decision.
The cuts come after Arsenal won its first Premier League title since 2004 last season and Arteta signed a new four-year contract.
A workforce review by an external company was already under way before the title win, and the planned job reductions will affect off-field roles.
