England face Sri Lanka in one-day tri-series after Pakistan defeat

England are playing Sri Lanka in a one-day tri-series match after losing to Pakistan on Tuesday.

The match is being played in England’s tri-series campaign, and Sri Lanka chose to bowl first after winning the toss.

England changed two players, bringing in Josh Tongue and Liam Dawson while dropping Sonny Baker and Adil Rashid.

Sri Lanka brought in left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage, and their team also includes opener Avishka Fernando.

England have struggled to finish big run chases, having failed to complete a 300-plus chase twice in three games.

The defeat to Pakistan was a setback after a largely positive 2026, and the team will want to respond.

The loser will be bottom of the tri-series at the halfway stage, with more work needed to recover.
