Second cohort of Turkey’s Women’s Energy School graduates
Turkey’s Women’s Energy School graduated its second cohort at a ceremony in Istanbul.
The programme was developed with Reges Elektrik to increase women’s employment in the energy sector.
Istanbul Kültür University and the Energy Market Regulatory Authority also contributed to the programme.
The second cohort received training in energy, electricity markets, regulatory changes, and commercial and technical analysis.
Some classes were held online so women from different cities could take part, and mentoring aimed to build leadership skills.
Women remain underrepresented in the energy sector in Turkey and worldwide, according to Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
The minister described the programme as a continuing effort, but the account gives no figures on jobs secured by graduates or details of another cohort.
