James Anderson to captain and co-own Italian T10 cricket team
James Anderson will captain and co-own the Napoli Knights, one of six teams in a new Italian T10 cricket league.
The England fast bowler is continuing his playing career after Lancashire released him following 25 years with the county.
The Italia T10 tournament is scheduled to begin on 18 November at the Roma Cricket Ground and run for 12 days.
Its organisers say the league is intended to build grassroots cricket in Italy, where the national team recently played England at the T20 World Cup.
The project aims to develop Italian players for the sport’s Olympic future, with Italy targeting the 2032 Games in Brisbane.
Each team is expected to include international stars, established professionals and under-19 players, with 60 Italian cricketers taking part.
The tournament is still awaiting ICC approval, which would allow international cricket boards to release their players.

What people are saying
The potential for cricket in Italy made it a big draw
There's a large Indian and Sri Lankan community in Rome and no doubt they will be a huge support for our competition
Of course, we want Napoli Knights to be competitive and challenge for the title, but we also want to contribute to something that continues to grow well beyond the tournament itself
