WFP cuts Gaza aid as funding gaps leave 1.4 million facing food shortages

The UN's World Food Programme is scaling back aid in Gaza because it lacks funding.

The agency says 500,000 fewer people will receive aid each month.

It also says 1.4 million people face acute food shortages in the territory.

The cuts are happening despite a US-brokered ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.

The funding shortfall is limiting the aid the programme can provide.

The reduction means fewer people will receive monthly assistance as severe food shortages continue.
