Alfonso Cuarón receives France’s Order of Arts and Letters in Morelia

Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón received a French cultural honor at the Morelia International Film Festival in Morelia, Mexico.

France’s ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione, presented him with the insignia of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters.

The ceremony took place during the festival’s 24th edition and was part of events marking 200 years of friendship between France and Mexico.

Cuarón said French culture shaped his education, naming writers, music and stories that influenced him in his youth.

He also described how French cinema connects with parts of his own films, including *Roma*.

The honor recognized his cultural ties to France and his work as a filmmaker.

Borione said his connection with human emotions could encourage new generations of filmmakers, and Cuarón thanked the audience and festival for their welcome.
