Why a Seven-Year-Old Nvidia Shield TV Still Holds Up

A writer comparing streaming devices says the seven-year-old Nvidia Shield TV Pro still meets their needs.

Google's TV Streamer now costs $150, has received few updates and can be buggy, according to the writer.

The Shield offers a built-in Plex server, two USB ports and more features than Google's streamer, including support for local media.

It also runs GeForce Now, letting users play PC games streamed from Nvidia's servers, with wired controllers and Ethernet available.

The Shield is not perfect: its internal storage is smaller than newer devices', and the writer says some parts need an upgrade.

But the comparison led the writer to conclude that there is little reason to replace a working Shield TV with Google's device.
