Erdoğan and Trump discuss ties and regional conflicts in phone call

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump about bilateral ties and regional and global developments.

Erdoğan said he expected cooperation between Turkey and the United States to grow and that both sides would work to strengthen relations.

He called for diplomacy to resolve tensions between the United States and Iran, and said Turkey would keep working for peace.

Erdoğan also said he hoped diplomatic efforts to end the war between Ukraine and Russia would succeed.

He said Turkey would continue contributing to those efforts and that contact with both Ukraine and Russia should increase.
